The Legacy of Ọbalùfọ̀n Aláyémọ̀rẹ

The name Alayemore occupies a central place in the kingdom’s royal identity. The legacy associated with Ọbalùfọ̀n Aláyémọ̀rẹ links Ido-Osun to the wider historical traditions of Ile-Ife and the ancestral lineages of Yorubaland.

This heritage represents more than a royal title. It embodies continuity, ancestral memory, cultural responsibility and the obligation of each generation to preserve the values entrusted to it.

the Ancient Town

An Ancient Yoruba Heritage

Ido-Osun is an ancient Yoruba town situated in Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State, Nigeria. Its heritage is closely associated with the history of the Yoruba people, the royal traditions of Ile-Ife and the ancestral legacy of Ọbalùfọ̀n Aláyémọrẹ.

Local historical accounts identify Ọbalùfọ̀n Aláyémọ̀rẹ as the ancestral royal figure associated with the establishment of Ido-Osun. Oral traditions and published accounts place the origins of the settlement many centuries ago. The exact chronology of its earliest foundation should be presented in consultation with palace historians and recognised traditional custodians.

Building a Stronger Ido-Osun Together

The future of Ido-Osun depends on the collective participation of its people. Whether living in the town, elsewhere in Nigeria or abroad, every son and daughter of the kingdom has a role to play in its progress.
